Kevin VK5KJ and Charles VK5XCP operate the HF station from inside the club trailer. Approximately 200 contacts were made on 80M and 40M using a dipole slung with the aid of Kevin's antenna slingshot.

David VK5HDW performs the cooking duties while the rest of the club members await the service.

"If you blokes can't run enough power I'll just have to use the gas instead of the heat sinks like in the VHF field fays"

A convincing number of contacts were made from 50MHz on all bands to 10GHz. Conditions were excellent and we generated one of our best scores working VK2, VK3, VK7, VK5

VK5KJ's barbeque on 2/1/06

On Monday 2nd January 2006 a number of us got together at VK5KJs for a new year barbeque.

The photo shows avid HF operator, VK5DK, (ex VHF and UHF enthusiast who has seen the light) calling on his new expertise to adjust the antenna coupler for Tom VK5EE. He is watched by David VK5HDW (left). Tom (right) used his portable setup to work a number of 40M stations. The antenna was 15M of wire over a nearby tree cast using VK5KJ's super slingshot antenna launcher.
